Orchestra Leadership Council
Mission Statement: The purpose of the Orchestra Leadership Council is to provide a framework for social engagement within the Byrnes Orchestra. Making music with others is a social experience, and the better we are at engaging with each other, the better we will be as an ensemble.
President: (Elected in August this year and in May every year after)
President will be expected to (all are required):
Be a senior and have been in orchestra at least one year have passed all classes the year prior to serving
Be enrolled in orchestra both semesters for the year of service
Attend meetings of the Council
Attend all social events
Be committed to working as a team, rather than as individuals
Plan and participate in all orchestra social events
President will be in charge of:
Hosting a back to school party
Hosting two other major social events in the fall, two in the spring
Concert publicity marketing and signs
Overseeing an orchestra t-shirt design
Working with Director to plan Orchestra Spring Banquet
Communicating details of all social activities with vice presidents
Vice Presidents: (One individual per orchestra class elected in the fall semester)
Vice Presidents will be expected to (all are required):
Have been enrolled in the Byrnes Orchestra program for at least one year
Have passed all classes the year prior to serving
Attend social activities planned by the President and Council
Attend meetings of the Council
Participate in Orchestra social events
Be committed to working as a team, rather than as an individual
Assist Director in class with orchestra library, taking roll, and assisting substitute teacher when Director is absent, leading class when asked to by Director
Assist with Orchestra Uniform Room Management
Vice Presidents will be in charge of:
Obtaining chaperones for all orchestra parties
Assisting president with the planning of social activities
Assisting with t-shirt designs
Organizing Fun Awards for the Orchestra Banquet
Secretary
Take minutes at all meetings of the Council
Follow up with phone calls, emails, etc. to assist with Council Event planning
Assisting with program publicity, marketing, and signs
Social Media Coordinator
Document Orchestra Activities by photo or video
Compile other peoples' photos and videos
Create content for the Byrnes Orchestra Instagram account and Facebook Page
Make a recruiting video for use on social media
Create the end of the year slideshow for Orchestra Banquet
Orchestra Room Manager
Assist Director with Orchestra Uniform Storage Room
Maintain white board information
Maintain bulletin boards
Maintain the Student Supplies Shelf (bandaids, phone chargers, shoulder rests, rock stops, gig books, etc)
Class Representatives
One per grade level (Freshman, Sophomore, Junior, Senior)
Attend all Council Meetings
Assist President and Vice Presidents in all Council operations
