The AVID program prepares students for eligibility for four years in college.
Eleventh and twelfth-grade students are engaging with eighth graders from Abner Creek Middle School to discuss the high school experience and the positive impact AVID (Advancement Via Individual Determination) has had on their educational journey.

Strong work ethic and interest in the program
Positive attitude and potential for growth
2.0 or higher GPA, no discipline problems, and good attendance
Desire to attend a 4-year college
Teacher recommendations
AVID Equals Success!
Have academic success in college preparatory courses, honors courses, and Advanced Placement or Dual Enrollment courses.
Completion of college eligibility requirements.
Apply for scholarships.
Research colleges and career fields of interest.
Enroll in a four-year college or university after graduation.
Maintain satisfactory discipline, academic standing, and attendance.
Maintain the AVID binder with assignments, record sheets, and notes for all classes.
Complete all homework assignments and commit to at least one hour of study every night.
Maintain enrollment in college preparatory courses.
Seek opportunities for Honors, Advanced Placement, and Dual Enrollment courses.
