Everyone who has a Southwestern phone number will be able to use the RingCentral App on your computer to make and receive calls, collaborate with others, etc. The softphone will do everything that a deskphone can, and many people may find this to be highly convenient and productive. With the addition of a headset, you may never pickup a desk phone again!

RingCentral will work with many types of phones, but Southwestern has chosen to use the Polycom VVX line of phones for campus. These phones have all the features that are expected in an office phone.

If you choose to install the RingCentral App on your personal mobile phone, you will be able to use your mobile phone to place and receive calls using your Southwestern phone number, protecting your personal cell number from being shared. Additionally, the RingCentral app uses WiFi (or your data connection if WiFi is not available) so you can prevent the use of your minutes or data use. You can also decide when it is used at all. The mobile app is a great option for those on the go.
