Hi there, my name is Gabriel Tejeda. I teach the graphic design classes here at Southside High School. I’ve been teaching this subject for almost 18 years. These classes are meant to give the students a hands-on introduction to both graphic design principles and tools.
My classes are composed of hands-on demos and projects using the industry standard software. My demos are followed by students to learn the design process, skills, tools and theories of good graphic design. The projects are for the students to showcase their creativity, skills and theories learned from the demos.
Our graphic design program offers three courses; the graphic design class, the advanced graphic design, and the practicum class. By the time student’s finish with the first class, students should have a good grasp of the basics concepts, skills and tools that it takes to be a graphic designer.
In the advance and practicum classes, there are three major components: A self-promotional design package, independent projects that focus on specific areas of interest, and comprehensive group/collaborative projects.
If you visually enjoy things in life, you enjoy design. Come and join the Southside High School Graphic Design program!
