The Honors in Action (HIA) program guide will highlight several different themes, which change every two years. Based on these themes, the chapter will pinpoint issues in their community or campuses that need sustainable and attainable solutions. The members of the chapter will conduct in-depth research to create a plan. Throughout this process, the members involved will have to work with leaders at their college or community to create this Honors in Action project.
A well crafted project will create a win-win situation, where not only will the community be benefited but the members involved will gain valuable skills.

As the name suggests, the College Project is focused on helping the college community. This is a great opportunity to get know and work with college leaders, such as the campus President/ CEO, to create a supportive environment for students. During the process of pinpointing and discussing solutions with other members, the chapter is becoming an ally to the college and helping them to fulfill their mission.
Remember to always include college administration in every aspect of the project, especially when deciding what the project will be. They are a vital part of the process and what will dictate a successful project.

What's next in Spring 2022?
We are currently creating new projects to help students during this shift in learning and living. We have been discussing ways in which we can support students virtually. If you would like to contribute to the conversation, feel free to join us during our all-member meetings. Weekly meetings will be resuming in Fall 2020, so, keep an eye out for announced dates soon!
After conducting in-depth research about the positive correlation between early reading and academic success, our chapter decided to do a book drive as part of our Honors in Action project for the year.
Thanks to the support of the community, we were able to collect enough books to donate to more than one place that was in need of children's books. In 2019, some school faculty that made constant trips to Honduras approached us with the idea of donating some books to a small community there that was just starting to build up their school. They were in need of teaching supplies and books was vital that they had. After surveying the books we had collected, we were able to pick out some to send with the faculty to Honduras!
