To compete in Special Olympics Texas at the local, area competition, and chapter-level competition, an athlete must be 8 years of age. A person must also be identified by an agency or professional as having one of the following:
Intellectual disabilities; or
Closely related developmental disability, which means having functional limitations in both general learning and in adaptive skills such as recreation, work, independent living, self-direction, and/or self-care.
No. Only individuals identified with intellectual or closely related developmental disabilities are eligible.
Each athlete must complete the required forms.
