Year 2 Resident Educators:

Year 3 Resident Educators:

Mentors and Facilitators

Mentors are meant to support new teachers by facilitating professional coaching conversations around the RE's teaching practices. All Year 1 and 2 REs are required to have an assigned Mentor.

New Mentors are required to attend a Two-Day Mentor Academy provided by a State Approved Mentor Trainer. The SOESC will host a New Mentor Training in conjunction with BCESC on October 23rd and 24th. You can register for this training through your STARS Account.  If you have questions pertaining to your eligibility as a Mentor, please get in touch with Rogina Conroy

Mentor Toolkit - This is the foundation of the Mentor Academy Training for new mentors. The toolkit aims to provide guidance, resources, and tools for mentors working with resident educators. The tools are used to facilitate professional development and mentor conversations around the Teaching and Learning Cycle and the principles and best practices for mentoring. The work of the instructional mentor is to accelerate the resident educator's teaching practice to promote increased student achievement.

Year 2 Mentors: Impact Cyle Review

This is the January 25th Impact Cycle Refresh Zoom meeting and the associated Slide Deck. Just to remind you, the Impact Cycle conversations should only happen after the RE passes their RESA.

Mentor Calibration Recording

Facilitator Training Recording

Facilitators support Resident Educators who are taking the RESA. They must be knowledgable about the RESA and the appropraite supports that they can offer.

Facilitators support Year 2 REs through the RESA process by asking open-ended and probing questions to prompt discussion, keeping REs current on the RESA timeline,   as well as providing technical support around uploading their teaching video and supporting documents.
