Lab Director
Dr. Schadegg (she/her) is an Assistant Professor at the University of South Alabama. She received her Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from the University of Mississippi and completed a post-doctoral research fellowship at NYU Grossman School of Medicine in the Anxiety, Stress, and Prolonged Grief Program. When she is not in the lab, she enjoys spending time with her partner and their husky, Hades, as well as reading, playing video games, traveling, and being outside.
Generally, Dr. Schadegg's work encompasses understanding the implications of psychological mechanisms and processes on the development, maintenance, and treatment of conditions with anxiety at the core. Her current research emphasizes: 1) exploring our understanding of the interconnection between emotion regulation and intolerance of uncertainty in GAD, 2) elucidating the presentation of GAD by examining nontraditional forms of avoidance behaviors, 3) verifying potential processes underlying misophonia, and 4) investigating the connection between misophonia and other conditions. The overarching goal of this research is to ultimately inform better identification, assessment, and treatment practices for anxiety related conditions. Dr. Schadegg's research has been funded by the Misophonia Research Fund (2025).
