Note that all alterations that can be made are suggestions only until approved. This is a website for any academic contributor (for a more complete definition see Patricia Hill Collin's (1990) Black Feminist Thought ). You need not have academic credentials, but you will need evidence/credible sources in order to contribute to the project. There are many sources to draw from and this website provides some of many sources you can refer to. Again, should you know of a book, a library collection, etc. not found on this website, please share. I am excited at the prospect of seeing all of this in book form someday but given the scope of this project, it would be in the best interests of all to expose any issues early on given the gravity of the subject matter and the potential impact of the data.
At this moment, I'm releasing potential variable constructions fairly slowly due to my needing to complete the data framework. I am in the process of creating variables that will account for experiences with past trauma, sexual assault, domestic violence, and mental and emotional health. It was important for me to begin with writing the measurement of variables created by the Espy file and Baker (2016) to create the backbone of the dataset. With that said, any other variables are not ones of solely "my" creation I am simply utilizing the scholarly diligence of others to account for women's experiences. via quantitative data. And all sources for ALL variables are cited and referenced. Whenever possible, original sources are used (e.g., court cases, documents from correctional facilities, autopsies, etc.)
The formatting of the codebook is similar to those found on the ICPSR website (the ultimate goal being to submit these data there in addition to their current place on the OSF website). Whenever possible, you'll see that the data and the dataset description follow the guidelines provided by ICPSR: https://www.icpsr.umich.edu/web/pages/deposit/index.html.
