Description
The simulation instructional strategy is an attempt at long-term retention of knowledge with simulated experiences that reenact reality. This learning strategy can be either student-centered or teacher-centered. Simulations can be drawn close to the actual experience that is trying to be learned.
Advantages
Simulation is an experiential learning method that statistically has better practitioners (Caniglia, 2019).
It can be used for all levels of teaching and learning. It can be customized to the learning needs of each individual student.
Disadvantages
Simulations can have a false perspective by having simple environmental influences instead of the real thing.
The set up is costly with the hardware and software and will be costly for maintenance and upkeep of the equipment.
Ray's Technologies
Virtual Classrooms
Cyber Attack! Harvard Simulation Software
Illustrates that runs a timer of a cyber-attack. Afterwards there is an after-action review of the simulation that is conducted by the participants. This helps teachers conduct analysis for better discussions in the future.
Altered Reality Software
Google Earth
Details of view with different dimensions of the world. This helps History teachers better illustrate geographical features on Earth.
Virtual Lab Environments
Microsoft Azure
Sets up lab services to simulate network environments. This utilizing real practical networking skills in a virtualized container. This can help CS and IT students that do not want to disrupt production environments.
Interaction Projection
Epson BrightLink
Collaborates devices to present any flat surface onto a modifying space. This helps teachers visualize any instructional scenario actively.

Simulation Games
Tax Game
Simulates real economic learning within a software designed game. This specifically is targeted to help learners begin the understanding of economical impacts on society.

Online simulations
LiveBinders
This offers a variety of games and simulation that will help with many activities such: research, analysis, problem solving, and decision-making skills. It is a great way to keep materials organized.

Interactive simulations
PhET
PhET is a simulation tool that helps students make sense of unfamiliar topics using ideas they are familiar with. This is a good program to help learn science and math concepts.

Multisensory simulation
i Create...Social Skills Stories
Multisensory simulation is used with multiple senses to manage behavior problems and to improve mood and cognitive functions in students. These are great for students with Autism.
