What did you do over
summer vacation?

In 2020, I started Sound Crafts Alaska!
#MaskUpAlaska

My name is Pamela Verfaillie and over the years I've been a hockey mom, soccer mom, lacrosse mom, football mom, baseball mom, basketball mom, Cub Scout leader, school volunteer, and Coastie wife (are you getting a picture yet?). I spent two decades staying home with our boys and supporting the many activities of our family. It was time well spent and I'm proud of the men our boys have become. My husband retired from the Coast Guard in 2013 and we returned to one of the most beautiful places on Earth - Valdez, Alaska. Now, my focus is turning to things that bring me joy. My interests are as varied as my experiences, which makes life fun! You can often find me out walking, reading, collaborating with friends, running the high school library during the school year, volunteering in the community, or crafting!

Welcome to my craft room!

The craft room began as a 2019 Mother's Day gift - my husband and youngest son cleared out an extra guest room, added a couple of sturdy tables and I now have a space all to myself. There are a lot more things in it these days!
Yes, this is the amazing view outside that window. You're looking at the Chugach mountains towards Thompson Pass and Prince William Sound College in the foreground. Winter views also include seeing to the water at the Duck Flats.

Donated masks - you can see how far I've come since the early days of mask design! Making masks and understanding the needs of the wearers has been the true makerspace project for 2020! Create, test, revise, test again, get feedback, find new materials and keep improving!
