The Center for Community Engagement fosters meaningful connections between Sonoma Academy and the wider community. We believe students learn best when they engage with real people, real challenges, and real opportunities to contribute.
WHO WE ARE
Community-connected learning
The Center for Community Engagement serves as Sonoma Academy's hub for building meaningful connections between students, educators, and community partners. Led by the Director of Experiential Programs and Partnerships and supported by a student-staffulty committee, we work to embed community engagement into the culture of the school and create opportunities for students to learn with and contribute to the world around them.
WHAT WE DO
The Center supports community engagement across Sonoma Academy through signature programming such as the Nonprofit Fair, Community Engagement Day, quarterly school-wide volunteer days, and the sophomore Global Citizenship and Community Engagement course. We also maintain a network of community partners and help students, teachers, advisors, and clubs incorporate meaningful community-based experiences into their work throughout the year.
OUR CORE BELIEFS
OUR LEADERSHIP TEAM
The Center is guided by the Director of Experiential Programs and Partnerships and the Community Engagement Committee, a team of students, and staffulty who help shape priorities, develop partnerships, plan events, and drive new initiatives. The committee meets regularly throughout the year and welcomes new members who want to help strengthen the relationship between Sonoma Academy and the broader community.
