Emergency situations (besides crisis in which you should reach your closest (911) or most familiar health care provider) please contact our secretary's main line or email to enhance speed of delivery. This is because your counselor may be dealing with a crisis, in a confidential session, or away from her computer and cannot guarantee immediate acceptance of message delivery. *In a crisis please know we also have a Crisis Response Team (CRT).
Non-emergency situations we would first suggest taking a look through our FAQ or Resource page since (lucky for you!) others are in your shoes and have inquired about something similar which can be easily answered. *Also remember, what may be presented as an emergency to you via text from child or notification on PowerSchool, we have found to not always be the case. It is important to foster student responsibility and their understanding utilizing the appropriate resources available to them throughout our school.
Academic related: Please see FAQs. We cannot change grades and we cannot change your childs' teacher. What we will do is offer support to your child by building their self-advocacy, self-confidence, and communication skills. Your child can schedule a meeting with their counselor and/or teacher. If something unsettling or unjust is occurring we would encourage you to reach out to the Team Leader and/or for serious/dangerous matters, one of our administrators.
Emotional/social: Please see FAQs. If you have additional concerns regarding various emotional and/or social issues our secretary would love to assist in scheduling a phone call or in person meeting. If certain things are presenting themselves in a classroom setting, we have found the most success by taking a holistic approach as a team. In that case, please reach out to your childs' Team Leader to schedule a meeting and ask that you would like a counselor to be present.
