Solon High School’s college essay advisors, Ms. Susan Elliott Blashka and Mrs. Lisa Chiu, are available to help you with your main college essays, supplemental essays, and scholarship essays. Appointments will take place in the Wellness/Media Center from August 25 through October 31.

Meet with us to:

• Brainstorm a great topic (you don’t need to have an essay already written!)

• Map out the structure of your essay

• Reflect on what you want colleges to learn about you

• Get feedback on the content and message of your essay

• Make your essay free of errors in grammar and punctuation

Know the rules:

1. Sign up for no more than one appointment per week.
   
   

2. Have no more than three upcoming appointments on the schedule at one time.
   
   

3. Schedule appointments only during your free periods. If no open time fits your schedule, you may select any appointment and write “Google Docs review” in the comments box. Then share your document with the advisor for your time slot (email addresses are below) the day before your appointment. We will leave feedback for you in the document. Brainstorming needs to be done in person.
   
   

4. You can also claim same-day appointments. For example, if you check the website after midnight on Oct. 2, you can book any spot still open on Oct. 2. Please write “same-day sign-up” in the comments box. These appointments are not included in the count of your one appointment per week or three on the schedule at one time.
   
   

5. If you can’t attend your appointment, delete your sign-up or email the advisors at least 24 hours in advance so someone else can use the spot. One no-show results in a warning. No-showing for two appointments means losing the privilege of using the essay advising service.
