Explore Osaka! This port city on the main island of Honshu is Tokyo’s cheeky, party-loving little brother. It has a vibrant nightlife and great food scene all lit by plenty of neon. In the daytime though, you can visit landmarks such as the picturesque Osaka Castle, Kuromon Market, or perhaps check out Universal Studios Japan. There are also plenty of interesting areas to explore, from the old-school Shinsekai to the ultra-hip America-mura. You could easily spend days wandering the hidden pockets of this city!
Great Places To Visit In Osaka
A trip to Dotonbori, the neon- lit, lively entertainment area and beating heart of Osaka, is unmissable.
Shop till you drop on Shinsaibashisuji Shopping Street––it is the longest shopping arcade in Osaka.
Visit Osaka Castle and the park grounds, which are especially gorgeous in spring with the cherry blossoms.
Okonomiyaki is an Osaka speciality that is cooked on a griddle and topped with okonomiyaki sauce, mayonnaise, bonito flakes and dried seaweed.
Eat at one of the many restaurants of Hozenji Yokocho, or at the covered shopping arcades beyond.
Check out the unusual moss- blanketed statue of Fudo-Myoo at Hozenji Temple, a short walk from Dotonbori Bridge.
Takoyaki is one of the stalwarts of the Osaka street food scene. These dumplings are made with flour and egg batter stuffed with pieces of sliced octopus.
With its neon lights and nostalgic atmosphere, Shinsekai makes a fascinating stop for visitors to Osaka.
