Why does Ichijo build net-zero...

The Pacific Northwest understands what we do at Ichijo USA, which is why our expansion in Oregon is such a natural fit. The desire for modern design, art, cutting-edge technology and environmental respect meshes perfectly with our company values and the way we build our homes.  We are excited to now be able to share our years of experience, technology, and craftsmanship with you.

At the core of Ichijo's innovation lies a design methodology refined through the strategy of building sustainable structures within Japan's minimalistic housing spaces.  This methodology has made it possible to construct 15,000 custom homes annually! Our design team, well-versed in both the principles of environmental engineering and structural expertise, melds technology with artistic ingenuity. This symbiotic fusion empowers Ichijo homes to uphold an unwavering standard of design quality.

At River Terrace Crossing in Tigard, Oregon, Ichijo is featuring all-electric net-zero energy ready homes with a high level of airtightness, obstructing heat gains as well as improving indoor air or environmental quality.  The Oxford model is Energy Star Certified® and Zero Energy Certified by Earth Advantage®.

We insulate our walls with 2 inches of Polyurethane spray foam together with 3-1/2 inches of batt insulation. The resulting total R-Value is R-29, which is 33% higher than the required code of R-21. Spray foam insulation significantly improves airtightness of the building envelope, which is crucial to the performance of mechanically controlled ventilations systems. It also improves indoor air quality by minimizing trapped moisture behind the drywall, which may promote mold development in the house.

The all-electric net-zero energy Oxford model at River Terrace Crossing features an 11.52 kW solar system.  Additional home systems that help the home achieve net-zero and save energy are the electric heating and cooling system, saving you 40% compared to traditional heating and cooling systems and the electric heat pump water heater that gives you up to 70% potential savings (based on usage) on your hot water bill when compared to a standard electric water heater or tankless gas water heaters.

Being one of the largest builders in Japan has its benefits.  With over 100,000 homes built so far, we've learned if we're not able to find the exact materials we need, we don't have to compromise, we make them.  Our cabinets and interior doors are produced in our factories in The Philippines.  These components are featured in the homes at River Terrace Crossing.
