The International Baccalaureate (IB) Middle Years Programme (MYP) is designed to be flexible and adaptable to the needs of individual schools and students. Unlike some other educational frameworks, the MYP does not prescribe a specific curriculum or dictate exactly what content should be taught. Instead, it provides a framework of learning objectives, key concepts, global contexts, and approaches to learning (ATLs) that Snowfields use to design our curriculum tailored to the needs and interests of our students.
In Snowfields' context, where there is a focus on students with autism, this flexibility is particularly valuable. It allows us to design a curriculum that is inclusive, supportive, and responsive to the unique learning needs of our students. By determining what to teach based on the specific needs, strengths, and interests of our students, we can create a learning environment that is engaging, meaningful, and accessible for all learners
