Students spend the first 15 minutes of each day in wellbeing time. This time is dedicated to preparing students for their day, reading and checking in with their tutors.
Once a week all students will come together for a weekly celebration assembly - we feel it is important to recognise the achievements of our students and staff across the college week. Students are encouraged to share 'shoutouts' for their peers and the staff supporting them.
Max is our Sixth Form wellbeing dog. Max was born 30th October 2022 and has been part of Snowfields life since January 2023. He lives with Emily and her husband, and comes into school every day.
Max has been trained and is under the guidance of The Dog Mentor and received his licence in May 2023.
He will support students both in and outside of college; travelling with them, going into public spaces and offering a calming presence in the classroom. Sixth Form students will have responsibility for Max and be part of his training journey; teaching him tricks and taking him with them when outside of the college.
While there is no statutory curriculum obligation to continue PE into Key Stage 5, we feel that as a college we have a moral obligation towards ensure that our students understand how to keep themselves fit and healthy. It is an important life skill to manage personal fitness and to use exercise to improve emotional and physical wellbeing.
As such we have made provision within our curriculum timetable for students to access a local gym at the Orida Hotel once a week.
Students will be inducted and supported by the gym's expert staff and will be accompanied by Pathfinder staff to ensure safe travel to the gym.
THE SPACE
The Space is a dedicated room in which students can relax, destress, regulate and find resources that will support them emotionally.
The Space is used for therapy - OT, Speech and Language, Talking Therapies and check ins.
