Kate Foster is coming into her senior year at San Marcos High School, and her second year as president of San Marcos FFA. This year, Kate will also be serving as a Southern Region FFA officer, and plans on working closely with members to increase participation in chapter activities, as well as raising a steer, and competing in various competitions. Outside of FFA, Kate volunteers with her church, spends time with friends, and enjoys frequenting the beach. Additionally, Kate hopes to encourage greater participation in section, region, and even state activities from our members. She takes pride in our elementary school Agriculture program, which she helped found, and hopes to continue this year, along with various other activities. Kate’s continuing dedication to SMHS FFA program has proved vital over her years of involvement, and is especially evident as she now enters her final year with us.
Charlie Stone is going into her senior year and serving as our FFA Vice President at San Marcos High School. Outside of the jacket she is a link crew leader and is involved in high school's ASB. She enjoys working with horses and hopes to be a veterinarian that specializes in large animals. She loves hanging out with her family and going on adventures with her friends. She enjoys showing livestock and taking care of the breeding animals at our school's farm. She is on the Vet
Science team and also serving as the San Diego Section President. Charlie's accomplishments are earning her FFA State Degree, being CTE ambassador for animal science, and she has served on our officer team for three consecutive years. Charlie’s SAE’s projects include working/riding at a horse farm, raising a market swine, working with breeding goats, and raising a steer. Throughout all her SAE projects she learned patience, hardwork, perseverance, and discovered her love for livestock animals.
Colt Ereckson is going to be a senior at San Marcos High School. Colt is your 25-26 Vice President. This is his first year as a chapter officer, in his past three years he has participated in Prepared Speaking contests, worked on chapter history by archiving photos, and worked with local farmers on issues in agriculture within the community. Outside of the jacket, Colt enjoys helping out at San Marcos Historical Society along with being involved with the yearbook, link crew, and academic league! His goal is to create commemorative activities to highlight the 50th anniversary of SM FFA! Next time you see Colt feel free to ask him about anything, especially San Marcos history!
Seth Serrano is an incoming senior and will be serving as the San Marcos FFA Secretary! Outside the jacket, he is the Captain of the All Male Dance Team, the President of Music & Vinyl Club, the Vice President of Photography, and is also a Link Crew Leader. Seth is incredibly passionate for horticulture, competing in Nursery/Landscape, and spending his summer rehabilitating the chapter greenhouse. As the chapter Reporter last year, Seth highlighted members through monthly “Members of the Month”, and revamped our Chapter’s social media. His SAE Project consists of maintaining and managing our horticulture area. Seth looks forward to spending his Senior year with the program and earning valuable experiences through the FFA.
Elena Barrera is going into her junior year here at San Marcos High! She is completing her second year as an FFA officer and her third year as an FFA member. This year, her responsibility as treasurer is to keep receipts and disbursements of this year's finances. She has been a part of many events and projects in FFA, including her journey of raising a pig and preparing her pig for the Del Mar Fair, where she then auctioned off. Another big accomplishment she has achieved is placing 3rd in our section reciting the FFA creed in Spanish, which resulted in her moving on to compete in the region, where she placed 5th. Elena has helped our FFA chapter grow and flourish into what it is today. She is a very welcoming and fun individual. She is the type of person that you can go to with any problem, and she will be able to help you fix it. She has many incredible pastimes outside of the jacket that help build her skills to continue to grow as a person and leader, including hobbies such as hanging out with friends, her dog, Lizzie Mcguire, and growing her creative side through crafts and art. Her passions in FFA include competing in various speech/career development competitions. Elena also loves bonding and creating new connections within the FFA community. She has been to 2 State FFA Conferences so far and plans on going to even more to grow her experience in FFA and create lifelong memories.
Claire Lenahan is an incoming Sophomore and will be serving as the San Marcos FFA Reporter. Outside the jacket, she plays for the school JV Field Hockey and Softball. Claire is very passionate about livestock and is planning to study the field of biology and zoology. Last year, she participated at the State FFA Conference, GLC, Horse Heritage Festival, and is actively staying involved by taking care of the poultry at our farm. For her SAE Project, Claire processed food through making jam and jelly preservatives. Claire looks forward to meeting new people, capturing leadership opportunities provided by the program, and raising a goat.
Erin Lenahan is this year’s San Marcos FFA Sentinel! This is her second year in FFA, and she is an incoming sophomore. Erin is looking forward to her agriculture involvement and passions. Erin flourishes in many hobbies, like being in our school’s field hockey team and Softball team! Raising chickens in our school district farm for her SAE, baking, and hanging out with her friends! As an athlete Erin has perfected her sportsmanship by playing Field hockey for two years and Softball for eight years! This year as Sentinel she will provide a happy encouragement to our chapter members and create a comforting environment for our FFA. Within FFA Erin is a passionate individual who discovered her love in attending FFA leadership conferences like the Greenhand Leadership Conference and the California FFA State Conference. She also participated in many of our San Marcos Chapter meetings during her Freshman year, growing her FFA involvement and strives to implement dedication to raising and showing livestock in the future. As an individual, Erin is an encouraging person who connects everyone with her kindness and joyful personality.
