IB core: TOK, CAS, EE
Theory of Knowledge || Creativity, Action, Service || Extended Essay
At the heart of the IB Diploma Programme are three core requirements that help students grow as thinkers, researchers, and compassionate community members. Through Theory of Knowledge (TOK), students examine how knowledge is constructed across disciplines; through the Extended Essay (EE), they conduct independent, college-level research on a topic of their choice; and through Creativity, Activity, Service (CAS), they engage in meaningful experiences that build well-rounded, reflective, and community-minded learners. Together, these core elements deepen understanding, strengthen skills, and embody the values of the IB Learner Profile.
TOK asks students to explore how we know what we know. Through discussion and reflection, they examine different perspectives, question assumptions, and develop strong critical-thinking skills. Click here for the TOK course description.
The Extended Essay is a student-driven research project on a topic of personal interest. Students learn to investigate, analyze, and write at a college level, producing a 4,000-word academic paper.
