Please send in a very simple and healthy morning snack, such as pretzels, popcorn, a piece of fruit, vegetables, or gold fish. Yogurt, fruit cups, apple sauce, dips, or anything else that is "wet" is not allowed for snack, but can be eaten at lunch time. Snacks such as potato chips, Fritos, cookies, brownies, etc. are also not appropriate for snack, but can be eaten during lunch time. Please send the snack in a separate container (not in the lunchbox) and put it in your child's backpack or in an outside pocket of the backpack for easy access.
The children may celebrate their birthdays with individual treats for the whole class. Please send in napkins with the birthday snack. Treats that require cutting apart or removing from a pan are not allowed. I will schedule the day on which we celebrate the children's birthdays in school depending on our schedule. You will find the specific day on our monthly class calendar, including summer birthdays later in the spring. All birthdays are celebrated during morning snack time, NOT at lunch time. Store-bought, individual treats and napkins should be sent to school at drop-off time first thing in the morning with your child. We do not have a specific time for morning snack.
Please send a dish/tea towel (no place mats) for the table when your child eats lunch. Dish towels will be sent home daily for washing. Please...NO candy at anytime-including marshmallows, M&Ms, etc., not even in yogurt.
Lunch Helpers: We love and appreciate our Lunch Helpers!!!! However, you are asked not to bring in lunch time treats to share with the class as the children have more than enough to eat and because of the various food allergies that exist. Also, please do not bring in prizes, toys, or other items for the children; your presence and help are treat enough!
The children are encouraged to bring a reusable water bottle to school each day labeled with their name. They will drink from them throughout the day. Only PLAIN water is allowed to be in their bottles. NO flavored water or other beverages should be sent in their water bottle.
