Mary, Our Blessed Mother
Monday and Tuesday are the last two regular school days for kindergarten. The children will need a snack, lunch, and rest towel as usual. They also need to bring their backpacks both days; we have quite a lot to send home! Please empty folders and backpacks each day. They do not have to bring anything to school on Wednesday, 6/4, the day of their Closing Ceremony.
Our Fun Run has been rescheduled for tomorrow, 6/2. The weather finally looks promising. The children should wear their green shirts. Tuesday is Aloha Day. The children may add tropical accessories to their uniforms.
As you know, Wednesday, 6/4 is not a normal day for my Kinders. I will meet the children outside the school office doors at 9:15am and walk them over to the church as a class for our 9:30am Closing Prayer Service. Tickets were sent home last week. They take the place of having to sign in at the office. Siblings do not need a ticket. The children may wear “dressy church outfits” (dresses, skirts, golf shirts, dress shorts/pants, skirts, sandals, sneakers, dock siders). Our class will be seated in the center pews to the LEFT when facing the altar, which are our normal seats at Mass. At the end of the prayer service, we will process outside of the church where you can pick up your child. You may leave immediately following the service.
The summer reading requirement for each child is to complete the reading program at the Harford County Public Library. You may register online or in person. The children will also complete a summer math packet, which will include the skills and concepts covered this year. I will send those home Monday. In August, on Meet-the-Teacher Day, the first grade teachers will collect the list of books read and certificate of completion from the HCPL as well as the completed math packet. Consistent practice over the summer will help keep their reading and math skills "fresh" for the Fall. Please practice the sight words and math flash cards on a regular basis throughout the summer.
I truly appreciate all your support this past school year. Thank you to our parents who cut things out for us throughout the year, to our party helpers, and to all of our lunch helpers who showed up every day. I especially wish to thank our Room Mom, Kate Peck, for all she has done for our class throughout the year. She has been such a huge help and support!! We could not have had such a successful year without her!
Please know how much I have enjoyed getting to know your child this past school year. I feel blessed to have been your child's teacher. It is a touching and awesome feeling to watch each one of them blossom and grow throughout the year. God bless each of your families! I hope you all have a very happy and safe summer. God bless each of your families!
