Remote Learning Expectations

Attendance is taken every day. Please notify the teacher if the remote student will not be in attendance that day. Students who are absent are responsible for making up missed work and assignments.

Virtual students will:

  • wear their gym uniforms.

  • have a designated work space that limits distractions.

  • be prepared with the appropriate supplies: computer, earphones, textbooks, notebooks, calculator, writing implements.

  • use Google Classroom as the learning management system/tool.

  • attend real-time, live, and/or recorded sessions daily and complete independent work daily.

  • attend live classes on time.

  • ensure the background that will show up behind you is appropriate for school.

  • complete all work assigned through Google Classroom. Failure to complete all assignments in a timely manner (to be determined by the teacher) will impact the student's grades.

  • submit only original work, using only permitted materials and documented sources.

St. Margaret School grading policies and procedures will apply to virtual learning students.

Parents will:

  • establish a daily routine and provide an appropriate space to support student learning.

  • review assigned work and discuss expectations with your child.

  • communicate with teachers. Stay in touch. Stay in contact with the classroom and support teachers, school leaders and counselors. If you have concerns, let someone know.

  • notify teachers by email in the morning if your child will be absent from remote lessons that day.

  • set limits on technology use for games, social media, etc.

  • be supportive and offer encouragement and assistance while expecting your child to do his/her part too. Struggling is allowed. Don’t help too much. Becoming independent takes lots of practice.

  • begin and end the day by checking-in with your child.
