1. Be respectful
2. Come prepared
3. Open your mind
Things to Remember
You may use pen. If you make a mistake, mark through rather than scribble.
Take notes. You may use them on your tests.
Turn in any scratch paper you use for full/partial credit.
You may review assignments and assessments to make corrections.
You may use a calculator on all my work. 9th-12th may use Desmos.
Basic Daily Routine:
Find your seat, answer the check-in
Have your necessary materials out and ready
Be attentive and listen during lecture times; take notes and ask questions
Be respectful and engaged during group work
Use time wisely so that you do not have homework
Before class is over, put all materials away and clean up around your area (if using ripped paper from a notebook, please make sure to pick up the leftover paper)
Open seating - There will be no arguing or negative behavior towards where you get to sit. Do not move chairs to different tables. You may move desks to group them together. A seating chart will be enforced if problems arise.
Google Classroom: Everything you need is posted in Google Classroom. All resources, lesson plans, assignments, grades, etc. Your assignments will be posted under the Classwork tab. I will only use the Stream in Google Classroom to pass along important information, especially when we are virtual or if I will be gone.
Daily Check-In: Instead of a math bellringer, I have a daily check in. You may answer openly and honestly. I will only pass on what you have to say if I feel that you or someone else is in danger of harm. Otherwise, what you say will stay between you and myself. If you are not comfortable answering, you may respond as such. You are expected to come into the room, find your seat, and answer the check-in before we start class.
Lecture Time: When I am teaching, you are expected to behave appropriately. Please raise your hand if you have a question (you do not have to wait for me to finish) or if I ask questions. Please be respectful of others when answering questions.
Practice Work: Practice work is textbook work or worksheets that I provide for independent/group work to enhance the concepts/skills that we learned. You are expected to start your work when allowed and work through the allotted class time. You will rarely have homework. You will have plenty of time to complete work during class time.
Paper: If using notebook or loose leaf paper for your assignments, please put your name and assignment title on the top right corner. Label the numbers along the left-side edge. Work on out problems on the right side and make sure to number what problem it is. There is an example on the wall at the front of the room.
Group Project Work: Groups may be assigned by the students or I may randomly pick who is in a group. We will learn to work together. If there is a legitimate concern for working with someone in your group, please bring it to my attention.
Textbooks: If you are in a class that is assigned a textbook, you are responsible for the textbook that is assigned to you. You are to take it with you and not allowed to leave it in my classroom. If you lose your textbook, you will not be given a replacement and will be responsible for paying to replace it. There is a link to an online textbook in Google Classroom and on your class page.
Materials: I provide most of what you will need: paper, pencil, ruler, protractor, compass, calculator, etc. I will limit how many pencils are provided to you. You are expected to bring what you need to class. You are welcome to ask if you will need something for that day. You are allowed to use the markers and boards that are on the counter or tables. However, I will only replace the markers every quarter.
Technology: We use a lot of technology in the classroom. Please be respectful and not abuse it. Continued abuse will lead to the removal of the technology. I will let you know when we will be using the technology.
Restroom: Please make sure restroom and water fountain visits are done during class changed times. If a need arises, you will be allowed to go to the restroom. Restroom visits should be quick and not a social time. I only allow one at a time to go. If it becomes continuous, we will have a discussion to determine if it will be allowed to continue.
Food and Drinks: Per school policy, your drink must have a clear container and a lid that screws on. Even if your container follows school policy, ask me if you may have it in my room. Some drink are more messy than others. Only food I provide to you may be eaten in my room.
Early Finishers: If you finish your work early, there are plenty of things you can do. You may get a game from the game table, pull an activity from the bulletin board, read a book, pick an activity from the list of things in Google Classroom, work on an assignment from another class, draw, color, etc. You may not play games that are not on my list, watch shows/movies, etc. If you are unsure, ask.
All work is due by Thursday at 12:00 PM for eligibility. It will go in as a zero after the due date. You will be allowed to make up and correct work within a reasonable amount of time.

Collaboration
We collaborate a lot in class. There is a difference between collaboration and cheating.
No Class - Still Class
If I am gone or just out of my room (meeting or running late), you are still responsible for your work. When gone, I will post what you need to do in Google Classroom under the "Stream" tab. Sometimes that means reading a lesson and sometimes it may mean completing an assignment. If I am at school but out of the room, I will write on the board what you should be doing. Since we are on a digital platform, there is no reason for you to be sitting around doing nothing.
Per school policy, cell phones are not allowed to be on your person during the school day. Other personal electronic devices (such as smart watches or personal laptops) are to be powered off and not used while in my classroom.
I will adhere to the policy addressed in the student handbook.
Be familiar with the policies in the school handbook as they will also apply to my classroom.
