Today, we embarked on our travels to the beautiful land of Santa Cruz. Once we settled in, we started our first writing session and ventured down to the beach where we were able to witness the great surf culture of Pleasure Point. We then came back to our humble abode and enjoyed a very pleasent evening of cooking together, which included a few mishaps. You will see a photo of Sarah holding a can opener, and you may even notice, there is no blade! We spent, what felt like forever, trying to open 3 cans of beans for our dish, tostadas with goat cheese, chicken, and obviously, beans. After a thorough search on the internet thanks to Julia, we decided the best way to get these cans open was to have Ms. Gallien stab it with a pair of scissors. While us students stayed back at a respectful distance, we watched as Ms. Gallien beat the cans open. Halfway through beating the cans, Isla realized to help open these cans, we still needed to use the broken can opener! After this discovery (now you may not even believe this), but the can popped open. This took us all by surprise, and rightfully so, we celebrated for roughly 17 seconds. Despite all of the hardships with the beans, our dinner turned out delicious.
