Chicago can be cold in March (average high around 45°F), and we will be walking frequently and using public transportation. Dressing comfortably in weather-appropriate layers will make a big difference in how enjoyable the trip feels.
Please be sure to pack:
Warm jacket (a puffy or insulated coat that allows room for layering)
Layers (sweatshirts, long-sleeve shirts, sweaters; tights or leggings to wear under jeans)
Hat, gloves, and scarf
Warm, long socks (wool socks are highly recommended)
Comfortable walking shoes (we’ll be on our feet a lot)
Rain gear (rain jacket, umbrella, and/or waterproof shoes)
One nice outfit (no jeans) for our night out at Hamilton and our steakhouse dinner
Saint Mary's Sweatshirt (please wear this to the airport so we can easily locate you!)
Toiletries (don't forget chapstick, lotion, and tissues for the colder weather!)
Water bottle
Wallet (Real ID or Passport, student ID, credit or debit card, cash, medical insurance card)
Book, sketchbook, small crafts, or games to share for travel/downtime
Personal Medication
Phone/camera and chargers
Small day-bag or tote to hold phone, sketchbook, gloves, water-bottle, etc.
All of the chaperones have lived on the East Coast and are very familiar with cold-weather travel, so please don’t hesitate to reach out with any questions about staying warm or packing appropriately.
