Today we woke up in Sanglaburi for our first day of concrete pouring. After a breakfast of fried egg + rice porridge, we made our way to the lower campus, which was our work site. Our task was first transferring a pile of rocks into a new area. Then, we were to pour concrete into a 10 by 20 feet patch. The work was super demanding and required a bunch of coordination and communication. We worked for around two hours, stopping midway for a thai tea break, and eventually took a longer break for lunch. Lunch was delicious, and during our break, some of us spent time with the kids. After lunch, we had one more hour of work where we were very efficient, and once we finished we hosed down. After lots of strenuous labor we got ready for an adventure to the river! It was a ten minute drive through scenic pastures and jungle, and once arriving, the atmosphere of the river was lulling. The water was perfectly refreshing and jumping off the tree was exhilarating! We also played volleyball, uno, and interacted with some stray puppies. After around an hour and a half, we left the river and journeyed home. We enjoyed free time before dinner, which was with the Blue Sky girls. The games after dinner were energetic, especially mafia. The excitement transcended the language barrier. We ended the night with a reflective conversation. We then winded down, tired after a day of earnest work.
