Sa-wat-dee kha lovely families and friends, yesterday was a rollercoaster of new experiences and adventures so I hope this blog edition does not disappoint. First thing in the morning, we had breakfast and attended the schools morning assembly where we introduced ourselves and were gifted homemade bracelets before high fiving each and every kid! Then we headed to the bamboo school where we got into groups of four and lead games for around 25 adorable kids each group, such as duck duck goose, chalk drawing, red light green light, soccer, yoga, songs, and many more! It was difficult to teach the games without using English, but we made do. Then we did some shopping at a market at Three Pegoda Pass on the Myanmar border where some of us bought belts, wooden spoons, Thai tea, fans, and other trinkets. When a blood curdling scream grabbed our attention, Señora Fernandez came to the rescue, heroically spraying to death the massive spider that found its way into one of the girls’ rooms. Then after lunch and free time, we participated in two fiercely competitive rounds of volleyball with the students at the La Salle School. Admittedly, they far exceeded us in terms of skill but luckily the teams were mixed and we have height on our side. Then we hopped on the packed school trucks where we weren’t quite sure if the sweat on our backs was ours or those packed around us. After some much needed whole group volleyball practice, we took some rest time and ate dinner with the Blue Sky residents. The heat and activity of the day made for restful sleep!
