Expectations for Video Conferencing
- LISTEN ATTENTIVELY - this means staying focused, remaining still, keeping everything out of your hands, thinking about what you are hearing and seeing, not getting distracted or trying to distract others. Remember the 5L's - listening ears; looking at speaker; lips closed; hands in your lap; legs still
- CAMERA ON - speaker should be able to see you
- MICROPHONE OFF - mute your microphone when entering session and only turn on when instructed to do so by the teacher
- be prepared - have your iPad, workbook, maths book and pencil ready to go; make sure you have already been to the toilet and had a drink - you should not be eating during the lesson
- be on time - you should connect with the video link no more than 5 minutes before the given time and no later than the given time
- charge your iPad beforehand
- think about where you are sitting - sit somewhere that you will not be distracted; set up so your back is to a wall and the camera is only viewing you and the wall
- wear appropriate clothing (e.g. no pyjamas)
- make sure the volume on your iPad is turned up
- use agreed upon signals to avoid interrupting
- use chat features responsibly - think before you type
- written chat must be for class purposes only - if you have other questions outside of the topic, email your teacher
- ensure you have parental supervision when using online resources like video conferencing

- use appropriate language

To set your iPad up for reading go to Settings > click Accessibility > click Spoken Content > make sure the buttons next to 'Speak Selection' and 'Speak Screen' are green.
