Students are required to ride the bus to and from all SCHS Band events, including football games, competitions, parades, and out‑of‑state trips. Attendance is taken before departure from every venue to ensure all students are accounted for and safely prepared to travel. To maintain safety, order, and professionalism, students must follow the guidelines below:
1. Arrive on time for bus loading When a director or staff member gives a call time, you must already be on the bus and seated by that time. For example, if loading is at 1:00 PM, you must be seated on the bus at 1:00 PM—not arriving at 12:59 PM. Late arrivals may result in disciplinary action.
2. Remain silent during roll call. When attendance is being taken, do not talk. We must be able to clearly hear each student’s response to ensure everyone is present.
3. Clean the bus after every trip. All students share responsibility for keeping the bus clean. After each event, everyone must help ensure the bus is thoroughly cleaned. If a student leader instructs you to clean, follow their direction—they are acting under the director’s guidance.
4. No public displays of affection. Public displays of affection—including holding hands—are not permitted on the bus. We represent our school and community, and professionalism is expected at all times.
5. Follow all bus driver instructions. The bus driver’s directions must be followed immediately and respectfully. This includes remaining quiet at railroad crossings and following all safety-related instructions.
6. Checking out with a parent after an event. If you plan to ride home with a parent after an event, a parent or guardian must sign the Official Event Checkout Form before leaving. This form gives Mr. McDonald permission to release you into their care.
If a student leaves before the form is completed, disciplinary action will follow from both the director and the school system.
7. Booster and parent support. Band boosters and designated parents will assist Mr. McDonald in enforcing these rules during loading and unloading procedures.
