My Why

Growing up, I always said I would never become a teacher. I watched my mother spend countless hours working in her classroom and at home preparing lessons and caring for her students, and it always seemed exhausting. However, after raising four children of my own, I decided to complete my educational journey. Instead of continuing in the medical field, where I had originally started, I felt called to pursue a career in education.

I realized that many children do not have the strong foundation, encouragement, or support they need to become successful. That realization showed me that I could make a difference. I may not be able to change the entire world, but I can help change the world of a student. I might be the only smile, kind word, or positive part of a child’s day. Every student deserves a cheerleader in their corner and someone who truly believes in them.

I was blessed with a supportive home life that helped me succeed in school, and I knew it was my time to provide that same encouragement and support for someone else. If I can reach even one student and help them believe in themselves, I consider that success. This is MY WHY!
