Smith College Aerospace Club or Aerosmith is a collective of students who are interested in learning, teaching, and discussing aerospace. Our goal is to bring together students from across the Smith community who are interested in space and aeronautics. Social events have included model aircraft flying and space themed movie screenings. Past professional development seminars included resume workshops, internship talks, and industry recruitment events. This year our research project will be to build a model rocket. In past years we worked on developing a payload for a NASA Small Satellite.
The “Students for the Exploration and Development of Space” (SEDs) organization is a committee of Aerosmith. This committee is a chapter of a national organization aimed at connecting students interested in space across disciplines of science, writing, art, and engineering. This committee works to connect our club with the space community on a university and national level as well as applying for project grants and finding professional opportunities for members such as competitions and conferences.
