Stow-Munroe Falls Facility Master Planning Project
The Stow-Munroe Falls Facilities committee met to review the results from the community survey and in-person meetings to incorporate the community’s feedback into the overall plan as the master planning efforts progress for the district. Conducted over January, February, and March, the district gathered feedback on master plan options, new school locations, and locally funded initiatives. The goal was to better understand the community’s priorities for district facilities for generations ahead.
The facilities committee, which is made of the district administration, staff, longtime community members, and city leaders, have been working since 2019 to define a master plan for the school district to satisfy challenges in the district's aging facilities. They reviewed the survey and talked about next steps as the master plan is finalized next month.
Hundreds of responses were gathered on these preferences, with the online responses lining up similarly to the in-person meetings from January. Community members also provided insight into an open-ended form.
A few primary takeaways included:
An interest in pursuing a plan that included 4 elementary schools instead of 2 or 3.
An overall preference of the new middle school located at the Highland / Lakeview site.
A preference for the new elementaries to be located at Fishcreek, Housely, Kimpton and Echo Hills sites.
The desire to explore a potential auditorium to be included in the new middle school.
The majority who were polled felt that this plan was the correct one to satisfy the needs of the district.
