Look Who Had a Fantastic  Day!

EVERYTHING at school is new for our  four year old students. Teachers, classmates, classrooms, toys, bathrooms, cubbies, rules, expectations, foods, lessons, experiences...the list goes on and on!

One thing I know about young children, whether coming to us from home or daycare setting, to achieve success and happiness at school. The first thing they all need to learn is how to "do" school. So we will spend a lot of time in September learning procedures, policies, routines, and defining what it means to have a great day at school.

We have four simple rules. They are: Be a good listener, raise your hand, cooperate, and be kind. Understanding what those words mean and living by them will come with time. Consistency, patience and a nurturing spirit will get them there!

When your child tries really hard to follow our classroom rules, he/she will earn a sticker for the day. (This doesn't mean being a perfect angel every second of the day. It's a reasonable and attainable, age-appropriate goal.) Check your child's calendar at the end of each school day. I will communicate with you daily about your child's day with a sticker earned for a great day, or a note explaining what we need your help with.

At the end of the month, children who earned every sticker for every school day, because they really tried their best, will be rewarded with a small treat, prize or a certificate.

Thanks for your support in helping us all have great days at school!
