May Newsletter - 4 yr olds

The month of May has arrived so quickly!  One more month left before we are done.  Save the date for Graduation on June 7th .  More information will be sent home soon.

Themes

This Month the themes that we will be working on are: Safari, All About Mom & Dad, Alphabet Party with In the Garden Week, Carnivals, Parades & Concerts and Road Trip U.S.A. Week.  We will also be wrapping up the Alphabet with the letters “Y” & “Z”.  The children will be completing their Alphabet Books and celebrating with an Alphabet Party.  On May 6th wear clothes that have letters on them.

We will start out with going to Africa for a Safari. We will explore all the different animals that we may see along the way.  Dress for a Safari on April 30th and wear animal print on May 1st.

We will have our school Art Show in the evening of May 2nd, starting  @ 6 with our Book Fair.

We move onto All about Mom’s and Dad’s.  This week we will be working on special gifts for them that will be given out at our Parent’s Party.  We hope to give you a nice surprise and help the kids to understand why we celebrate YOU. We will end the week with our last Show & Tell of the Year and the Penny Fair. Preschool’s Penny Fair will take place in the evening of May 10th. You should have already RSVP’d to this event.

Next we finish up the Alphabet with a party on the 13th.  Wear clothes with the alphabet on it. Also this week, we will go into the garden and talk about different things we can plant.  We will be planting  flowers and  vegetables from seeds.  After they start to sprout we will bring them home for you to plant in your garden.

I will not be in on the 17th.  It is a very busy day in the O’Grady house.  Ava will be celebrating her Hope Ribbon with her 8th grade friends, followed by a picnic. Then Mia will be attending prom in the evening.  I will share pictures.  Mrs. N will be in for me with Mrs. Diane.

Then, we move onto Carnivals, Parades and Concerts week. It is sure to be a good time each day.  We start the week off with the Parent Party on the 20th at 1:00 in the PC. The 21st we can dress for the carnival and have a carnival day in class with games and prizes.  The 22nd we will have a mini parade getting ready for Memorial day wearing Red, White and Blue. Lastly, on the 23rd it will be our concert day.  Dress for a concert in a band shirt or music symbols on our shirt or just rock out in your favorite outfit.  We might try a little karaoke and make microphones to sing to our favorite fans.  You may need ear plugs if it gets too loud. LOL

We have Memorial Day weekend break May 24th- 27th.

We will wrap up the last week of May with a Road Trip in the USA. We will travel to a few states and learn a little bit about them and special landmarks or history there. We will also be practicing for our big day next week.

We have several friends that have birthdays in July & August.  Since we are not in school for this, we will celebrate them before we finish school.

Information regarding graduation will be coming home soon for you. Hopefully, you have already marked your calendar.

Helpful tip of the Month:

If you see your child trying to assemble a toy or get a book from a shelf that she/he can reach if she/he stands on their step stool, pause before racing over to help.  Provided that they are safe, those moments when you don’t rush in, when you give children a moment to solve things for themselves, those are the character-building moments.  It’s natural to want to make everything perfect, but if we do, we cheat kids of the chance to experience success.
