November Newsletter – 4 year olds class
We had a lot of fun in October, and we now welcome November.
Alphabet
We are continuing the alphabet and doing letters – F & G. Just a reminder, on the last day of the letter (Friday), have your child bring in an item from home that starts with that letter. The children will receive prizes that start with that letter as well.
Themes
The themes for the month include “Fairy Tales”, “Giving and Gathering” & “Thanksgiving”
No School & Early Dismissal
There is early dismissal on Tuesday , November 10th @ 10:15. This is due to Parent Teacher Conferences for Grades K-8th. Preschool does not partake in the conferences unless needed. No After School Care that day. There will be no school on Friday, November 13th of Parent Teacher Conferences. No school on November 11th because of Veteran’s Day. No school on Wednesday November 25th - Friday , November 27th for Thanksgiving Recess. 12:30 Dismissal on November 30th with NO AFTER SCHOOL due to staff development.
Themes:
Fairy Tales will be our first week of November. We will take an adventure into the fairy tale world with the 3 Little Pigs, Jack and the Beanstalk, Princess and the Frog, etc…. This is also a week our STREAM Walkathon on the 2nd and yellow day will be on the 3rd. Dress up as a Fairy Tale character on the 5th.
We have a Town Hall Meeting on November 4th @ 5:30. We do this every year to go over all the events that the school offers to families and give you details of each. This is especially helpful to our new families.
We will finish the week with Grandparents mass on the 6th. Our grandparents will be able to have mass with us in the PC. If there are older siblings, they can go to mass with them at church.
The next week there will be no letter due to it being a busy week. We will have black day on the 9th. The school will be doing a Veterans Day Prayer Service on the 10th @ 8:30am Dismissal that day for Preschool is @ 10:15. There will be a day of service on the 12th for our class to do a service project for a charity.
Our School Craft Show will take place Saturday, November 14th. We have over 80 vendors, baskets, raffles, food, bake sale and Coffee truck. Come and shop early for the holidays.
We move on to Letter G. We will talk about how we Give and Gather for the Thanksgiving Season. What can we do for people that are in need and be able to be with people we care for and help them as well. We will dress down for a cause for Diabetes on the 16th for $1 and wear blue. Purple day will be the 17th.
We are excited to celebrate Thanksgiving with a little feast for the families in preschool on the 18th in the Parish Center @ 1:00. Invites will be coming home and a Sign-Up Genius will be sent out shortly.
Thanksgiving is next on the themes and we will learn about the 1st Thanksgiving and who was there and why they celebrated. Dress like a turkey on the 24th. We are only in school two days this week.
Thanksgiving Break - November 25th - 27th
Tip of the Month: Most people have a way of living up (or down) to expectations -- preschoolers included. At school we expect the kids to try to open their own drinks at lunch, to throw away their garbage, to hang up their jackets --and they do, but then they’ll walk out of the classroom and the thumb goes in the mouth and they climb into strollers. Raise the bar and your child will probably stretch to meet it.
At Home:
*Practice tracing/writing your child’s name
*Practice using “pinchers” for coloring instead of fist holding
*Read at least one book a night
