Students in 7th and 8th grade band at PHMS are divided into 3 bands which meet for class daily during school. Students in 6th grade beginning band meet in either like-instrument classes or full band on a daily basis.
The PHMS Beginner Band performs an Informance, Winter Concert, and Spring Concert during the school year. These are the only required performances.
The PHMS Bands consistently receive gold and silver ratings at ISSMA Solo & Ensemble, ISSMA Concert Band Contest, and are a five-time recipient of the ISSMA Jr. All-Music Award. Students in PHMS Bands regularly participate in additional events such as Solo & Ensemble, IBA All-Region Honor Band, and Madison County All-Region Band.
Many members of the PHMS Band can be found in athletics, academic teams, and clubs.

"One of my favorite things about the band program is that there is a place for everyone. It doesn't matter what you look like or what your other interests are -- if you are willing to learn an instrument, then you belong here."
-Heather Tannas (Parent & Band Booster)
