Music is knowledge
"Many studies find that an increase in arts educational experiences had remarkable impacts on students' academic, social, and emotional outcomes. PHMS encourages active participation in the arts. It is critical for a well-rounded student and is transferable to every learning situation in and outside the academic community."
-Mrs. Jenny Chestnut (PHMS Principal)
Band teaches much more than how to play an instrument.
Current research shows that studying music increases brain development and - along with developing responsibility, mental discipline, teamwork, and self-esteem - will provide enjoyment while fostering a lifelong appreciation of music.
