1. Click "Create a Storyboard" to begin.
2. In the bottom left, click "Storyboard Layout" to determine how you want to organize your "Storyboard" and how you want it to appear.
3. Once your board layout is chosen, choose your background. Select "Scenes," then click and drag your chosen background to the desired cell.
4. Time to customize! Click first on the background you wish to work on. This will pull up all the color options available for this background. Once prefered colors are chosen for the scene, click "Edit Scene" to further customize the background.
5. From this point, each scene will have different options. Common customization options will include "Time of Day" and "Weather." This particular scene allows for changes to the furniture and windows in the scene as well. Click "Update Scene" to put changes into effect.
6. Check out the same scene with multiple different customization options utilized. With so many scenes to choose from and the multiple options with each, the possibilities seem endless!
1. Now you can begin inserting the characters and objects of your choice. Select "Characters" and browse by categories which include "Adults" and "Teens," along with more specific categories like "Sports," "Work," and "Cultural." Click and drag your chosen character to the desired cell.
2. Much like you can customize a background, each character can be finely tuned as well. The colors for a character's hair, skin, eyes, and clothes can be changed. The process for resizing your character is similar to the process for resizing pictures in other applications. Click and move the outer corner of the box to resize your character. The position of the character can also be altered. Click "Edit Pose" to view those options.
3. The "Edit Pose" function is what really sets this tool apart. The depth and detail at which you can customize your character is truly great. Check out all the options you have! The arrows point to the options I chose for this character. Once all your options have been selected, click "Update Pose."
4. Your character will now appear with your changes in the cell. Click and drag your character to the desired location.
5. Once all your characters are inserted into the cell, you have the option to add objects to your story. Click on "Characters" and select "Props." Then click and drag the selected object to your scene, at which point you can further customize using the same process as you did with your characters.
6. In addition to the objects immediately viewable having clicked on "Props," searching using a key term will produce a myriad of additional options. For instance, searching for "Food" will produce the above options which can then be inserted into your "Storyboard!"
1. It's now time to bring your characters to life by giving them a voice. Select "Textables" and click and drag the appropriate conversation bubble to the cell.
2. Once the bubble is inserted into the cell, the above customization screen will appear. Type your text in the space provided to have it appear in the bubble!
3. Continue to add your conversation bubbles until your "Storyboard" is as you want it.
4. Once your "Storyboard" is complete, you have two options as to how you can have students turn in their work. The first being that you could pay for a subscription which would unlock even more features. The second being to have the students take a screenshot, crop the image down to show just their "Storyboard," and then submit that final image.
1. The above example was made for my 8th grade U.S. history classroom. It includes multiple references to the Oregon Trail.
