Next Generation Science Standards. Collaborated with classroom teachers to re-align all field studies with 3D NGSS science standards.
Pre-Service Teachers. Provided instruction in environmental education pedagogy and Maryland Environmental Literacy Standards, as well as a student teaching opportunity, to St. Mary's College of Maryland pre-service teachers in elementary and secondary science methods classes.
Community Volunteers. Through a partnership with Volunteer Maryland, an AmeriCorps service program, community members volunteered almost 400 hours in 2018 in support of SMCPS environmental education programs.
Maryland Master Naturalist Training. 29 staff members, classroom teachers and community volunteers increased their knowledge and skills to provide science-based environmental education by completing the 60-hour Maryland Master Naturalist Training program.
Native Plant Nursery. 1,200 Student Service Learning students annually propagate hundreds of native plants which are provided free of charge to school and community habitat restoration projects.
