Tuning

It is expected for string orchestra instruments to go out of tune. Tuning an instrument is an important skill that students will learn after they have been playing their instrument for a few years. These instruments are delicate and trying to tune them without experience can cause damage. Before students can tune their instruments themselves, these are the people that should tune instruments:

• Mrs. Burroughs

• The student’s private strings teacher at home.

• A local music store.

• An older student or adult outside of school who has experience with tuning the instrument, with parent/guardian’s permission.
