Ms. Wathen has a B.S. in Education with certification in Elementary and Special Education; a Master of Art degree in Educational Leadership with certification in Library Media Science and Administration and Supervision. She has been named Teacher of the Year in St. Mary's County (Washington Post finalist), is the current National School Library Journal Hero of Equitable Access and was a finalist for Maryland School Librarian of the Year, 2018.
Ms. Wathen's passion is igniting student interest in all things. She crafts lessons to incorporate Maryland College and Career Readiness Standards, New Generation Science Standards, International Society for Technology in Education Standards and the American Association of School Librarians standards.
Ms. Wathen's goal is to to bring students high-quality, interesting lessons that they can apply in life; to help them see value in themselves at school, home and the larger community through:

Ms. Wathen's favorite book right now is Refugee by Alan Gratz.
Kim Taylor is the mom to four amazing children. She loves being around kids and helping them succeed and grow.

Shel Silverstein.
