To use the SAMR model and Redefine the use of Technology in my class
After reading about and watching a few videos related to hyperdocs, I was excited to try this idea of more collaborative learning through technology.
Inspiration came from The Hyperdoc Girls as I had bee introduced to them as well through the #DitchSummit
Trying out HyperDocs was quite an adventure and time consuming, but worth it!
My first attempt was a total adoption to a lesson posted on youtube (that I cannot find the link for at the moment). I adapted their lesson to fit my topic. As a first attempt, I thought it went well with my students.
Me, My Selfie and My Classmates was used after I had taught my students about True Colors Personality and Leadership Styles. By having the students identify their colors and their Leadership Style, all students could see what colors their peers were. This way if they are grouped with these individuals, they will know a bit more about them. By having the students comment on the slides, it allowed for collaboration. Unfortunately, I don't think it will allow you to see their comments during the slideshow playing :(
Our second use of HyperDocs involved an assignment on the Core Values of our School. Students had to do some research on Core Values in other companies and then choose some for our school.
These are their final products - copied and pasted to a new document for easier printing to put around the school
Using the Hyperdocs, students were interested in being able to see the results and efforts of their peers. They liked reading the different ideas and collaborating with their peers. A couple indicated that they prefer to work solo overall and one indicated that the format wasn't of a great concern
