The TGJ3M Communication Technology itself is a class that deals with computers on a daily basis; however, I was finding that students were not engaging with each other. They started to look like drones at a computer. So I felt I needed to switch things up! Students would do work and great work it was, yet they only shared their final products. Most of the time the final products were a quick showcase or walkabout. The other issue is that students were not valuing the process mark that was assigned with any of the project based learning that was taking place.
Below is what happened as a result of the TLLP project.
To make the process more important in the eyes of the students than the teacher. Having students understand how critical eyes of a peers can act as a customer, by evoking what is called ROUND TABLE. This is done 2 days prior to submission of a final draft.
My influence comes from various sources, I use twitter as my education quick resource bank to look at various posts, articles, videos and comments to use in my classroom. My main focus was to create an authentic experience for students in the Communication Technology classroom. For that I went and looked at Google Work spaces. (See Photos below of what I found that became inspiration).
There were a few experiments that went on in my classroom.
Students found that by using Voice Typing they could write more than they would if they had to type it out. It was great to see my students who have IEPs communicate in a journal their thoughts and ideas. Then as a teacher I used READ & WRITE app to read their journals to me as I marked what they said and not their spelling, grammar and punctuation. (Which is what I was doing which took away from the freedom to communicate for some of my students)
Check out my quick video I sent to my students on how to use Voice Typing.
