Student mental health is a major priority of the Guidance and Student Services Department. We want to ensure that students feel supported and know the services available to them. We take a holistic approach and encourage students to develop spiritually, cognitively, socially, and emotionally. Below are some resources and links.
The school board has a psychology department that supports students through several services such as providing a First Nations, Metis, and Inuit counsellor, counselling, psychoeducational consultants, and school counsellors. The school counsellor will be in the school roughly one day a week to see students and provide new consultations.
Local and national mental health resources to help support students and families
It is a non-profit multi-service agency operating in the District of Muskoka and Simcoe County. This agency provides Child and Youth Mental Health Services, Indigenous Support Services, and Child Protection. A counsellor from his organization will be present in the school one day a week to support students.
Is a nationwide organization that promotes mental health and supports people recovering from mental illness. There is information regarding mental illness and addiction and support for those going through these challenges and their families.
NEDIC provides information, resources, referrals, and support to anyone affected by an eating disorder. There are also resources for families and friends supporting those with an eating disorder.
