The Cellular Engineering and Drug Delivery Lab operates at the intersection of chemical and biological engineering, molecular biology, microbiology, and pharmaceutical sciences, aiming to engineer biology to address healthcare challenges. By leveraging synthetic biology-based gene regulatory networks, we design, modify, and control the behaviour and function of mammalian cells. This enables the regulation of cell fate decision-making for engineering complex multicellular physiological systems, with direct implications for disease modeling and cellular therapy. We also employ combinatorial approaches to drive the evolution of biological systems, enabling the development of drug delivery technologies that overcome diverse biological barriers.
