The Animal House Facility at the Indian Institute of Technology is a well-established and CCSEA-registered unit dedicated to supporting high-quality biomedical and translational research.
The facility is registered with the Committee for Control and Supervision of Experiments on Animals (CCSEA), Government of India (Registration No: 1007/GO/ReBi/S/06/CCSEA).
All animal experiments are conducted in strict accordance with CCSEA guidelines and are reviewed and approved by the Institutional Animal Ethics Committee (IAEC), ensuring ethical and responsible use of laboratory animals.
Facility Overview
Established as a fully operational unit in 2022, the Animal House Facility provides a modern, well-maintained, and scientifically equipped environment for laboratory animal housing, breeding, and experimentation.
The facility is primarily utilized by IIT Madras researchers, particularly from the Department of Biotechnology, and currently supports more than 30+ active research projects.
A dedicated Mouse/Nude mouse - SCID mouse/ Rat/ Rabbit rooms and breeding facility is available, which has significantly enhanced animal availability and research productivity since its establishment.
