Module 4 online learning

Work to do while you are at home waiting for school to be back in session.

March 16 - March 27 Read the Directions for each.

I. Practice page 1 fractions copy the problems neatly in your spiral or on binder paper.

  • remember if the denominators are the same just divide the numerators
  • KCF Keep the first fraction, Change to multiply, and Flip (get the reciprocal) of the second fraction.

II. Practice page 2 GCF copy the problems neatly in your spiral or on binder paper.

    • To find the GCF greatest common factor you need to find the largest number that will divide evenly into both numbers. To do this factor each number into its smallest factors. IE 12= 2 · 2 · 3 or 28 = 2 · 2 · 7
    • After the numbers are factored find what is the same in both lists. Since 2 · 2 is the same, then the GCF =4

III. Practice page 3 Decimal addition copy the problems neatly in your spiral or on binder paper.

    • You may add the numbers vertically, Line up the place values. If a number has no decimal point add a decimal point at the end of the number along with a zero. IE: 16 changes to 16.0

IV. Module 4 Lesson 10 page 47

V. Module 4 Lesson 11 pages 52, 53, 54

VI. Work sheet practice A Fill in the blanks on the worksheet.

    • If you can not print the worksheet then copy the whole problem and fill in the blanks.

VII. Create examples for each lesson 1 - 11 for the quiz we will have when we return.

New week April 6- 10

Mod 4 Lesson 16

Instructions to change the word expressions into math expressions.

STEP 1 underline the key words that indicate the math operations

STEP 2 If you see (the sum of) (the difference of) ( the product of) or (the quotient of) use parenthesis.

STEP 3 write the math expression

a. The sum of twice b and 5

  • This problem will have (), a + sign, and a times 2
  • Decide if the times 2 is outside or inside the parenthesis
  • The sum of is before the twice so the times 2 is inside

( 2 b + 5)

b. The quotient of c and d

  • This problem will have (), and a fraction (divide line)

(c/d)

c. a raised to the fifth power and then increased by the product of 5 and c

  • This problem will have an exponent, a + sign, and times
  • Check if you need parenthesis, you don’t as multiply is always before add

a5 + 5c this answer cannot be show correctly it should be "a with a little 5 + 5c

d. The quantity of a plus b divided by 4

  • This problem will have addition (+), fraction line for divide, parenthesis
  • Decide where the parenthesis should go. outside or inside the fraction
  • Inside as the quantity of is before the divided by

(a +b)/4 this should be a fraction with the 4 on the bottom
