The Desired Results Developmental Profile (DRDP) is a tool developed by the California Department of Education to help teachers understand how children are learning and growing. Teachers observe children during classroom activities and track their progress in important areas of development. This information helps teachers plan lessons and activities that support each child's learning.
Twice a year, during the first and second trimesters, TK teachers record each child's progress using the DRDP online system. Teachers use the Fundamental View for children with an Individualized Education Program (IEP) and the Essential View for children without an IEP. This information also helps teachers complete TK report cards for the first two trimesters.
The Foundational Skills Report guides assessments for the end of Trimester 3 in TK and details children’s attainment of foundational skills in math and literacy.
TK teachers assess all students at the end of the year during the final assessment window to document students’ proficiency in identified skills and competencies to be shared with Kindergarten teachers in the upcoming school year.
These skills align with the California Preschool/Transitional Kindergarten Learning Foundations and the California Preschool Through Third Grade Learning Progressions.
