This year kindergarten students will learn trick words, or words that have a tricky part to them. The words will be introduced throuhout the year. The words that have been taught will be included in the weekly newsletter along with the Fundations parent communication paper that will be sent home. The more the children practice, the better they will learn the words. By the end of kindergarten, we will have little readers!
Below you will find the list of all of the words and fun ways children can practice.
The best way for your child to learn his/her trick words is to practice them using multi-sensory activities that allow your child to interact with the words by seeing, hearing and touching the words. Encourage children to say the sounds of the work that make sense.
The auditory/visual/kinesthetic connection is what builds muscle memory in a young child's brain for quick recall of sight words. Think of it as a learning triangle that engages all 3 of your child's senses!
The more you practice the faster your child will be able to recall the words and learn to read!
